1.)  Explain how this artifact shows growth towards becoming a TL:

For this project, not only did I end up using a technology tool that was fairly new to me, I also ended up using one where collaboration and sharing of the resource would be easily done. I think that because of my willingness to think collaboratively, I can see how others can contribute their ideas to my work to refine it and make it a resource that I would be proud to share. This resource, shared with staff, would also enable collaboration across the school, engaging students, teaching staff, administrators and parents. Leading Learning states that in order to “lead into the future”, we should ensure that we invite the school community to “participate in building school culture”, which was a primary focus of this project: engaging staff, students and their families in developing a reading culture within my school (20). It also shows different access points, so that students can find connections with a wide variety of events. This artifact also helps to reinforce the Mission Statement that I crafted earlier in the course, “Our mission is to ensure that our learning community has access to information, literature and digital tools to help them cultivate a passion for lifelong learning,” as I especially hope to inspire my students to cultivate a passion for lifelong learning through a love of literature. It is my hope that by focusing on the learner, collaborating across the school, and engaging with community, I can establish a reading culture in my school.

2.)  Describe the progression of creating this artifact (attach drafts, feedback, and final project):

I created this document after reviewing several websites on year planning for the library, considering different cultural holidays, and using what I had learned after being in a Teacher Librarian position last year. I received feedback on making it easier to read with changing the background visuals, so I adapted it and added more events after reading about some of the events that my peers plan on hosting in their libraries (i.e. adding Star Wars day because I remember my students being very excited about that). I also appreciated the instructor's feedback on adding the Eric Walter’s School is Out Program, to engage learners over the summer. Although I cannot attach drafts, this document has been enriched by viewing my colleagues’ presentations and adding ideas and websites based on their work. I feel that the final product, although endlessly adaptable, is a great starting point for sharing with others to encourage a culture of reading in schools.

3.)  Explain why this artifact reflects higher level thinking (Bloom’s Taxonomy chart):

For this year-long planning document that I developed on Padlet, I worked hard to arrange the items in chronological order, identifying which holidays and events would make the most sense in the LLC, developing Knowledge. Then I described the events, by locating information from a variety of online sources and from my peers to construct this padlet, moving from Comprehension to Application. I worked to illustrate why and how the events would take place, by choosing links to appropriate sources, creating a document that I hope will be useful for myself and others, moving me to Synthesis. Finally, with feedback, I re-evaluated my work, realizing that although it is a work in progress, I am happy to share my learning with others.
